Andalusia becomes the mecca of 5G in Europe
19/11/2021With more than 36 pilot projects developed by Vodafone Spain and Huawei, in collaboration with 50 companies and organizations, Andalusia has become in terms of number of 5G business use cases, the mecca of 5G in Europe. This has been announced in the recent closure of the 5G Andalusia Pilot project. The 36 5G pilot projects have been developed in the cities of Sevilla, Malaga, Puerto Real, Algeciras, Huelva and Jaén, and have included high-value solutions as technology with remote piloting for a defibrillator drone and medical telecare in real time or a new biometric access to the Málaga-María Zambrano railway station, which allows the identification of passengers in the boarding area. Thanks also to a 5G technology project, Balearia, the biggest maritime passenger and cargo transport company in Spain, has been able to lighten the management of vehicles in Algeciras harbour, where up to 8,000 vehicles pass daily in the operation "Paso del Estrecho".

Less than half of Spaniards change their passwords when they separate from their partner
05/10/2022The email and social network accounts of one in five Spaniards (21%) have been subject to violation by a third party who has changed the passwords without the owner's knowledge or consent, attributing 37% of the victims this wrong use to their ex-partners. This data comes from the recent study carried out by Avast and Dynata on the degree of knowledge that Spaniards have of the passwords of their partners or relatives. In this study more than 2,000 Internet users have participated. Among the most striking results of this survey is that the collaborators who say they still know their ex's passwords, 56% of them has admit that they even know, also, their professional email passwords. 24% of those surveyed also claim that their location has been tracked without their consent due to knowing their password. This behavior, the authors of the study explain, can be considerated as technological abuse, which can be further aggravated by installing spyware or 'stalkwerware' on other people's devices or controlling or harassing someone through home technology.

Between 2002 and 2003, Internet Explorer was the most widely used browser in the world, 95% of users, although it was gradually losing market share. In fact, since 2016, Microsoft had already suspended the development of new features for this browser. After a first phase of redirection to Microsoft Edge over the next few months, Microsoft has already announced that it will release a Windows update that will make virtually all traces of the old browser disappear permanently, although it will remain active within Microsoft's Internet Explorer mode Edge, until the end of 2029. The Spanish Organization of Consumers and Users has denounces Apple for the planned obsolescence of the iPhone6
25/05/2022The Spanish Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple for the planned obsolescence of their iPhone 6 and has agreed to pay the costs of the trial to the 400,000 affected in Spain. The OCU considers this planned obsolescence a deceptive commercial practice that violates consumer protection regulations and demands compensation for Spanish users for an amount that ranges between 99 and 189 euros. This figure comes from the sum of the amount of the battery (between 29 and 89 euros, depending on whether or not the replacement plan was accepted), plus 10% of the purchase price of the mobile (between 699 and 999 euros, depending on the model). According to the OCU lawsuit, Apple has acted fraudulently by hiding information from users, and considers that the technology company updated the software in the different models of the iPhone 6 to mask the performance problems of its batteries, knowing that this would cause a slowdown. and loss of phone performance. Madrid taxis already accept payment with cryptocurrencies

Mozilla allows the simultaneity of accounts in their VPN service

New Wifi technology to accurately count seated people

A group of researchers from the University of California have developed a system that overcomes the precision problems that the lack of movement during most of the time in seated people caused in this type of counting operations. This new system also allows those seated behind a wall to be counted. The new technology that is suitable for Wi-Fi devices is based on a mathematical model that, in a similar way to how the queue management theory works, relates the total number of gestures to the number of people sitting in the same space. Apple wants to launch its own in-house 5G modems by 2023
17/05/20212023 is the date that most analysts estimate, as likely Apple does, to do the presentation of its first 5G modem. If the forecast comes true and Apple goes ahead with its own 5G modems manufacturing, Qualcomm, the current suppliers of the Snapdragon X55 modems for the iPhone 12 and Snapdragon X60 for the next iPhone 3, would be out of the equation, although the agreement they have signed until 2025 with Cupertino could lead to simultaneous Apple launches in the smartphone market with one or the other modem depending on the region of sale for a while.
